Meet at Onomichi Station→transportation to Tatara shimanami park→rent a bicycle→cycling along Shimanami Kaido→board a ferry→cycling in Okunoshima Island→board a ferry→cycling for the end→transport to Onomichi Station→return a bicycle→end of the tour (cycling distance 20 km)

Let’s cycle across the Shimamani Kaido, the sea route connecting the surrounding islands with the beautiful bridges. This is a rare route that allows visitors to cross the sea by bicycle, making it a popular cycling route for many cyclists around the world. The greatest appeal is the bridge that rewards visitors with terrific views of the sapphire-blue sea and lush island range. 

A river cruise will take you and your bicycle from the coastlands to the central part of Rabbit Island by ferry. Here you will encounter over 700 wild rabbits that inhabit the heart of the island. With guided sightseeing, simply carrying around animal feed while walking will attract these rabbits to trail behind you and quickly form a circle around your feet. Stroking these rabbits on the island is known to soothe and lighten your heart. You can also learn about the excessive remains from the war and poisonous gas factory located in the center of the island. 

Meanwhile, on your return to the ferry, you can bid farewell to the rabbits, and cross the sea towards the goal. From here, you can enjoy the spectacular view across the sea range while making a round trip around the pure-white bridge.
